I SAW THIS CLASSIC AT THE FRENCH INSTITUTE IN NEW YORK AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE! THE CRYSTAL BLUES OF THE SEA AND ALAIN DELON'S EYES WERE ENOUGH TO HAVE YOU COMPLETELY MEMORIZED FOR THE ENTIRE 2 & A HALF HOURS. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER SEEING ONE OF DELON'S PERFORMANCES, LATER FINDING OUT THAT WAS HIS FIRST MAJOR CINEMA ROLE. STUNNING! I LOVED THE MANNERISMS HE GAVE RIPLEY, GOING FROM CALM, STEADY & COOL TO ABRUPT FITS OF MANIA THAT WERE BOTH EERIE AND ALLURING. PURPLE NOON IS A MASTERPIECE INDEED AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Wings of Desire is one of the most inspiring works of cinema I've ever seen. I recently have been on a Wim Wender's kick and this film is an ultimate favorite. The intimate gateway it provides into the characters lives is hauntingly simple and yet completely profound. I love the way it dives into the relationship with the self, it addresses our relationship with our minds and our surroundings. I can only hope to be in movies that are so honest of the human condition.
Words cannot express how in love with this movie I fell! My sister had been telling me about it for months and when I finally got around to watching it I felt swept off my feet, completely. The moody lighting and cinematography takes you into the world without question or hesitation. The definition of romance is rewritten by Jarmusch with this torn love of two vampires living in a modern world. The chemistry between Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston is electric and nearly intoxicating. A must see from 2014.
Welcome to my cinema blog, where I write about movies I love!
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED WATCHING GANGSTER MOVIES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO CLASSICS LIKE THIS. THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT IT, THE SECOND THE LIGHTS GO DOWN IN THE THEATER YOU COMPLETELY FORGET ABOUT EVERYTHING OUTSIDE. I REALLY ENJOYED THE USE OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS BY ROSI, IN THE OLDER GANGSTER MOVIES THEY SAY SO MUCH WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING AT ALL. MY FAVORITE PART WOULD HAVE TO BE WHEN LUCKY GOES TO THE RACETRACKS AND A BACKHAND GANGSTER SLAPS HIM. INSTEAD OF RETALIATING BACK PHYSICALLY, LUCKY SHOWS HIS TRUE POWER BY HIS DISPOSITION, HE DOESN'T STRIKE BACK! HE CALMLY AND INTENSELY STUDIES THE NAIVE GANGSTERS FACE, WITH THE AUDIENCE KNOWING VERY WELL THAT MAN WILL BE THE NEXT KILLED. INCREDIBLE!
